Civil War Encampment

Dousman Stagecoach Inn Museum

1075 Pilgrim Parkway, Brookfield, Wisconsin

 

During this two day event, Confederate and Union soldier

re-enactors will camp overnight on the grounds of the

Dousman Stagecoach Inn Museum.

 Visitors will be able to:

  • Walk through the soldiers' campsites and see

soldiers readying for battle

  • View a skirmish, and see an artillery demonstration

  • Hear the cannons roar
  • Listen to addresses by Abraham Lincoln

  • Learn about the Civil War and role Wisconsin played

           in the war

Visitors will also learn what it was like to live during the

Civil War. They can:

           that has been restored with authentic artifacts

  • Stop in at the blacksmith shop, the smoke house, the

           ice house and the Donaldson Visitor’s Center and

           Gift Shop

  • Observe or talk to a blacksmith, a tinsmith, a beekeeper, a fortune teller, a coppersmith, an embalmer, a Marshal, a mortician as well as dismounted cavalry etc.
  • Learn how clothing and other items were made in the

          1860s - weavers, quilters, knitters, carvers etc.

  • Attend a 1860’s Fashion Show and on Sunday hear the Regimental Band of Wisconsin  perform

                

  • Purchase handmade goods from merchants:

          candles, quilts, clothing, honey, baskets, tinware,

          lace, carpets, buttons, hard tack, toys, soaps etc.

  • Participate in children's games and drilling

Food and beverages will be available.

A free shuttle will be provided to the grounds of the Dousman Stagecoach Inn Museum.
